Quick steps
- Decide which status you needCard active or not, a pending application, or the eKYC of members. Each sits on a different page of the portal.
- Reach the state PDS siteChoose from the finder at the top, or from the table on this page, so you start from the government address and not from a search ad.
- Go to the card details optionCommon labels are RC Details, Ration Card Search, Beneficiary Details or Know Your Card. On some portals it sits under a Reports heading.
- Enter the RC numberType the full ration card number. Where the portal asks, select district and shop first, or confirm an OTP sent to the linked mobile.
- Read each line of the resultCheck four things: the status word, the members, the eKYC column and last month's lifting. Note anything that looks wrong.
Ration card status tells you whether your family card is active in the state database, which members are on it and whether grain was issued this month, and the quickest way to see it is the card details page of the state PDS site, using the RC number. If the status is fine, the shop machine will accept you. If it says suspended, cancelled or eKYC pending, you need to act before the next distribution.

Three things people mean by ration card status
Before you open any portal, be clear which question you are asking.
- Is my existing card active? This is the card status, shown on the card details page. It is what the shop machine reads.
- Has my new card or change been approved? That is application status, tracked with the acknowledgement number. See ration card application status.
- Are all members verified? That is eKYC or Aadhaar seeding status, explained in our eKYC page.
Karnataka adds a fourth check, DBT status, which shows whether cash in place of grain reached the bank account of the head of family.
Ration card status check online and RC details by state
Each state shows status in its own place, and the same RC details page usually leads to the ration card download as well. Pick yours below for screenshots of the menu path, the input boxes and the result screen.

Status words and what they mean
States use different words, but they fall into a few groups.

Using Mera Ration and other quick checks
The central Mera Ration app lists the family members, the grain due each month and past lifting records for most states once you type the card number. It is a fast way to confirm that the card is alive and that grain is being issued against it. It does not replace the state portal for corrections. Our Mera Ration app guide shows the screens.
Rajasthan and Jharkhand let you see a month by month transaction record, so you can spot a month where grain was shown as issued but you never received it. Report such entries through the state grievance page or the state number from the central list of PDS helplines.
Checking by name instead of number
Lost the card number? Several portals still let you find a card by name. Jharkhand's card search takes the name or father's name along with the district. In Bihar, Gujarat and Rajasthan you can scroll the village list and read the head of family names until you find yours. That route is explained in our ration card list guide. Once found, note the number somewhere safe, such as the back page of the family bank passbook.
Fixing a status that looks wrong
A wrong status almost never fixes itself. Work through these in order.
- Recheck the number. A single swapped digit opens someone else's record or none at all.
- Ask the shop dealer what the ePoS machine shows. The dealer sees the same database live.
- Any member marked not seeded, or absent, should finish eKYC at the shop.
- If the card is suspended, carry all members' Aadhaar, the bank passbook and the old card to the block or tehsil supply office, and ask for a written receipt.
- Spelling or address errors need a correction request, and a missing child needs a member addition.
Keep your card details safe
The card details page shows names, ages and sometimes part of the Aadhaar number of each member. Do not post screenshots of it in public groups.

How to check ration card status online with the RC number?
On the state PDS site, pick card details or RC search, enter the number and press submit. You then see the card's state and every member on it. Pick your state in the table above for exact steps.
Is there an NFSA ration card status check for all states?
The NFSA site links each state's public card report on its state portals page. For a single quick check across states, the Mera Ration app shows card details from the central database.
How do I know my ration card active status?
The card details page on the state portal shows a status word or simply lists the card under your shop. If the shop machine accepts your fingerprint and issues grain, the card is active.
Does a ration card status check by name work?
Some states allow it. Jharkhand searches by name with the district, while village wise lists in Bihar, Gujarat and Rajasthan can be browsed until you find the head of family.
What is ration card DBT status?
In Karnataka, cash is paid to some families in place of part of the grain, and the e-Status menu on the Ahara portal shows whether that payment went through. See our Karnataka status page.
Why does my e ration card status show a member as not seeded?
That member's Aadhaar is not verified on the card. Take the member to any fair price shop for fingerprint eKYC, then check again after a few days.
