Quick steps
- Find your application numberLook at the acknowledgement handed over after filing online, at a camp or at a help centre. Some slips also show it as a long number with the last digits highlighted.
- Open food.wb.gov.in and go to WBPDSUse the ration card links on the food department home page. The status pages open on the WBPDS or RCMS site.
- Choose the status or track optionLook for a link named Check Status, Track Application or Application Status. Labels change after updates, so look for those words.
- Select form type and districtPick the form you filed, such as Form 3 for a new family card or Form 5 for a correction, then your district and block or municipality.
- Enter the number and read the resultType the application number and submit. Note the status and date shown, and take a screenshot for your records.
You can see your WB ration card status on the food department's WBPDS and RCMS pages by typing the application number from your form receipt, and the screen shows whether the request is pending, approved or sent back. The same portal can also show the details of an existing card if you know the digital ration card number or Aadhaar.
West Bengal handles each service on a numbered form, and the status page asks for that form type first. Below we explain which number goes where, what the status words mean, and who to meet when nothing moves. Our West Bengal ration card hub has every other task.

What you need for a WB ration card status check
- The acknowledgement slip or SMS with the application number.
- The form number you filed. If unsure, the slip usually names it.
- Your district and the block or municipality where you applied.
- For an existing card: the digital ration card number, or the member's Aadhaar.
People who applied at a Duare Sarkar camp often lose the slip. In that case the camp register or the inspector office can look you up by name in their register and note the number down for you.
Which form number matches your request
The department now uses a common application form, but the status screen still groups requests by the old form numbers. This list helps you pick the right one.
| Form | Used for |
|---|---|
| Form 3 | Whole family getting cards for the first time |
| Form 4 | One person missing from a household that has cards |
| Form 5 | Spelling fixes in name, age or address |
| Form 6 | Moving to another ration shop |
| Form 7 | Giving up (surrendering) a card |
| Form 8 | Moving a card to the RKSY I category |
If a menu on the portal looks different, read the form names shown there, as labels can change after an update.
Reading the result of a ration card status check online in West Bengal
| Status you see | Meaning | Your next step |
|---|---|---|
| Submitted or Received | Entered in the system, no officer has opened it | Look again after a week or two |
| Under process or Pending verification | Inspector is checking papers or visiting | Keep documents ready for a field visit |
| Approved | Request accepted | Wait for the card or update to appear, then download it |
| Rejected or Returned | Papers missing or details did not match | Read the reason, then refile or meet the inspector |
When a new card is approved, download it from the WB e ration card page using the number shown.
Check card details by Aadhaar or card number
For a ration card online check in West Bengal without an application number, a department notice explains a lookup by Aadhaar within the RCMS login section. The path looks roughly like this:
Type the member's Aadhaar number and the screen lists the digital ration card linked to it. Useful if the printed number has faded or the paper is gone. You can also search by the card number on the e ration card page. A search ration card details by name option is not offered for the public, so if you only know the name, ask your shop dealer, who can search the shop register.
Status stuck or rejected: what to do
- Pending for many weeks: visit the food inspector office of your block or the sub divisional controller office in towns with your slip.
- Rejected for documents: refile the same form with clear copies of the missing proof.
- Rejected as duplicate: the member may already hold a card elsewhere. Surrender that card first, then apply again.
- Number not found: check the form type and district you picked. A wrong district gives a blank result.
To change details on an approved card, use the West Bengal correction guide.
NFSA ration card status check for West Bengal families
If you want to know whether a card is under NFSA or the state scheme, look at the category. AAY, PHH and SPHH are NFSA cards. RKSY I and RKSY II are state cards. NFSA cards can draw ration in other states under One Nation One Ration Card, and the national ration card status guide explains the central tools. The national list of state portals is on nfsa.gov.in.
Questions people ask
How do I check my WB ration card status online?
Open the WBPDS pages from food.wb.gov.in, pick the status or track option, select the form type and district, and enter your application number.
What is my application number and where is it?
Look on the receipt given when the form was entered. If you applied at a Duare Sarkar camp, ask the camp office or the inspector office to find it by name.
Can I check the West Bengal ration card status with Aadhaar?
To see which card is linked to an Aadhaar, use the RC Details by Aadhaar check in the RCMS area. For a pending form you still need the application number.
How long does a WB ration card application take?
WBPDS gives no promised period. Timing rests on the inspector's paper check and home visit. If it stays pending for many weeks, meet the inspector with your slip.
My status says approved but I have no card. What now?
Wait a few days, then try the e ration card download with the number shown. The West Bengal hub has the steps. Your dealer can also tell whether the card works on the machine.
Can I search ration card details by name in WB?
The public pages do not offer a name search. The ration shop dealer or the inspector office can search their register by name and address.
