- Sign in to RCMS Public LoginOpen rcms.mahafood.gov.in and log in with the same user account you used to apply. A new account will not show old applications.
- Open the application status optionThe dashboard usually offers a Track Application or Application Status option. Pick your request from the list or type its number.
- Note the stage and office remarkWrite down the current stage and any remark typed by the clerk. If documents are pending, take the originals to the tahsil supply office.
A ration card online check Maharashtra residents can do in two ways: the application status inside your RCMS Public Login using the application number, or the open status report on Mahafood using your 12 digit RC number. The first tells you where a new request stands; the second tells you whether an existing card is active.
Most people searching mahafood gov in ration card status have applied for a new card, a member addition or a change of shop and want to know if the tahsil office has acted. This page explains both checks, what each status word means and when to visit the office. Saving the PDF is explained on the Maharashtra ration card download hub.

Two ways to do a ration card online check Maharashtra
Application status lives inside your Public Login. It follows one request from submission to approval and shows remarks typed by the supply clerk.
Card status is open to anyone. The Mahafood home page links an RCMS ration card status report where you enter the RC number and see whether the card is active, its category and its shop. Use this if the shop claims the card is blocked or when you simply want to confirm the card exists in the system.
Card status by RC number on Mahafood
Type the full 12 digit number without spaces. If the report says no record, check whether you used an old short number from a booklet. The ePoS slip from your last ration lift usually prints the correct number at the top.
A card showing as active means the shop can serve you. A card showing as inactive or suspended means a trip to the supply office carrying each member's Aadhaar, because silent cards are often paused after months without any ration lift.
What each application stage means
| Stage shown | What it means | Do this |
|---|---|---|
| Submitted or pending at office | Form received, not yet opened by staff | Submit printed copy and originals at tahsil if not done |
| Under verification | Clerk or inspector is checking documents or address | Keep phone on; an inspector may visit |
| Returned or query raised | Something is missing or unclear | Read the remark, correct and resubmit |
| Approved | Office has accepted the request | Download the updated card from the dashboard |
| Rejected | Office refused, reason given in remark | Ask the office in writing; apply again with correct proof |
How to check ration card online in Maharashtra for Mumbai and Thane
Families in the Mumbai and Thane rationing area also apply through RCMS, but the file is handled by the local rationing office instead of a tahsil. The status steps are the same. Remarks will name the rationing office, and that is where you take originals.
Status shows approved but nothing changed
After approval, a new member or a corrected name can take a little time to reach the ePoS machine at your shop. Download a fresh PDF from RCMS and check the member list. If the PDF is right but the shop still shows the old data, tell the dealer to sync the machine, then call 1800 22 4950 if it continues. The open Mahafood ePoS entitlement and seeding report shows what the shop machine sees for your card.
Fixes for common status errors
- No applications listed: you are signed in with a different account than the one used to apply. Ask the centre which login they used.
- Application number not accepted: type only the digits, without the prefix letters, if the box rejects them.
- Session expired: RCMS logs you out after a short idle time. Sign in again and go straight to the status option.
- Status stuck for weeks: visit the tahsil supply office with the slip; the portal cannot push an officer.
An OTP is yours alone; a status caller never needs it.
