Two kinds of ration card status in Uttarakhand
An active card check answers a simple question: will the shop machine find my family. If Smart PDS shows your card with members and a shop, the answer is yes. An application check is different. It follows a form you handed in for a new card, a new member, a transfer or a duplicate. Uttarakhand sends such forms to town supply offices and, in rural areas, to block development offices, so the online status only moves after those offices update it.

The new Smart PDS site loads its menus with script, so menu names can look slightly different on a small screen. Rotate the phone sideways if the side menu is hidden. Words to look for are RC Details, Beneficiary Search, Know Your Status and Track Application. If the page stays blank on mobile data, try again on Wi Fi or at a common service centre.

Before you check: what to keep handy
- The ration card number from the front of the card or an old printout
- Aadhaar number of any member listed on the card
- The acknowledgement receipt, if you filed a new card or change form
- The mobile phone that was written on the form, in case an OTP is sent
If you lost the acknowledgement, the office that received the form can look it up by the applicant name and village.
Check at the shop or office when the site fails
Your fair price shop dealer can tell in seconds whether the card is live, because the ePoS machine will either find it or not. For an application, the Supply Inspector for your area or the clerk at the District Supply Office can read the file position. Status shows pending for too long
Files stop when the inspector visit has not happened, when a document is unclear, or when the family is shown on another card. Go with the slip and a photocopy of each document, and ask exactly which step is pending.
