For a ration card download Kerala families rely on the department's e-Citizen site at ecitizen.civilsupplieskerala.gov.in: sign in through Citizen Login, open your ration card and pick the e ration card print option, which produces a PDF. The file is protected by a print password, which the department sends to your registered mobile through Sandes, the government messaging app it names on the login page.
Kerala was one of the first states to give every card holder a digital card, and the printed PDF carries the same details as the old booklet: card colour, members, shop and monthly allotment category. This hub covers the download, the colours, the Akshaya centre route, the department's Ente Ration Card app, and links to our Kerala application status guide. If your card belongs elsewhere, open our ration card services index.

Ration card download Kerala: what to keep ready
- Ration card number: the ten digit number on your card booklet or earlier printout.
- Registered mobile: every OTP and the print password go here.
- An e-Citizen account: it is separate from Akshaya logins, so create your own once.
- The Sandes app on that phone, if the portal asks you to receive the password there.
Kerala ration card colours and what they mean
| Colour | Category | Who holds it |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | AAY (Antyodaya) | The poorest households |
| Pink | PHH (priority) | Poor households under NFSA |
| Blue | NPS (non priority, subsidy) | State subsidy households |
| White | NPNS (non priority, non subsidy) | Other households |
The department's card types page also lists an NPI category for institutions. Yellow and pink cards are NFSA cards, so they work at any ration shop in India under One Nation One Ration Card. The colour is printed on your e ration card, so the PDF is a quick way to confirm your category.
Kerala ration card download PDF: what you get
The PDF looks like the familiar card. It shows the card number, colour and category, the card owner (usually the senior woman), every member with age and relation, the address with ward and local body, the authorised ration depot (ARD) number, and the taluk supply office. Most offices accept a clear printout of this file wherever a ration card copy is asked for. If any detail is wrong, correct it before using the printout elsewhere.
Ente Ration Card app and other ways to download
The Civil Supplies Department links its own app, Ente Ration Card, from the main site for phones. Install it only through the link on civilsupplieskerala.gov.in or by searching the exact name in your phone's app store and checking that the publisher is the state government. Its listing says the e card and a PVC style card can be downloaded with a password sent by SMS. Kerala ration cards can also be pulled into the national digital document locker by searching for the Civil Supplies Department there.
A plastic card is a separate service; our PVC ration card guide explains what it is and where it is offered.
Download ration card Kerala at an Akshaya centre
Akshaya centres have their own department login on the same portal. Carry the card number and your registered phone; the operator logs in and prints the e ration card while you wait. Expect a nominal counter charge for printing and service. The department does not charge for the card itself, so ignore anyone asking for an extra fee to release it.
New card, add name and other Kerala services
The same e-Citizen account handles more than downloads:
- New ration card apply online Kerala: file it after Citizen Login or at an Akshaya centre. Our all state apply online guide lists the documents most states ask for.
- How to add name in ration card online Kerala: sign in, choose the member addition service, attach the birth or marriage proof and the person's Aadhaar. General rules from all states sit in our add a name explainer.
- Tracking any request: see the Kerala ration card status page.
Mustering and eKYC in Kerala
Kerala calls its member verification drive ration mustering. The dealer runs it on the ePoS machine inside the ration depot, and Kerala has also used the central face based eKYC app for members who cannot give a fingerprint. Every member should complete it so names are not dropped. Our ration card eKYC explainer covers the national rules behind it.
