Quick steps
- Open the Puducherry civil supplies portalGo to pdsswo.py.gov.in and read the notice strip on the home page first. It says whether online services are running or paused.
- Go to View Application StatusIn the top menu, open View Application Status. It has two options: Download Acknowledgement Slip / Certificate, and Check Current Application Status.
- Enter the acknowledgement numberType the Acknowledgement No exactly as on your slip. The status page shows the stage; the download option gives the slip or approved certificate.

For a Puducherry ration card download PDF, the starting point is the Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs portal at pdsswo.py.gov.in, whose e-Service section lists an E Ration Card service along with additions, deletions and address changes. Its Download Acknowledgement Slip / Certificate option gives a PDF of the approved certificate when you enter the acknowledgement number of your request.
There is one catch. The department posted a notice on the portal that its online services were suspended while Puducherry moves to the national SMART-PDS ration card system, and that web addresses may change after the move. Status pages and the card summary dashboard still load, but some e-Service links may not. SMART-PDS migration: what it means for Puducherry card holders
SMART-PDS is the central government's common ration card management system that several states and union territories are moving to. During such a move, the old portal stops accepting new online requests so that data can be shifted safely. Puducherry's notice said exactly that, and warned that links may change once the new system is live.
What this means for you:
- Your existing card stays valid. Ration continues at the shop after the Aadhaar check on the ePoS machine.
- New online requests may be refused for a while. Check the home page notice before you start.
- Bookmarks may break after the move. Start from the main portal address instead of saved deep links.
Puducherry ration card status check by acknowledgement number
The status page asks for one thing: the Acknowledgement No. printed on the slip you received when the request was filed at the office, a common service centre or online. The result shows where the request stands. When it is approved, the neighbouring option, Download Acknowledgement Slip / Certificate, gives a printable PDF. Puducherry ration card download PDF: other ways to get a copy
- Digital document locker: Puducherry ration cards can be pulled into the national document locker service; pick the Puducherry civil supplies issuer and then Ration Card. You need your card number and an Aadhaar linked login.
- Office copy: the civil supplies office of your region can print the card details from the department system.
- Common service centre: Puducherry began offering ration card services through CSCs, so an operator may be able to help once online services resume. Operators there usually take a nominal charge.
If you only need to prove membership for a scheme, the approved certificate PDF from the status page is often enough.

While the notice is up, file urgent requests at the office instead.
Puducherry ration card name list and card types
The portal does not publish a public list of names. Its Ration Card Summary dashboard shows only totals of cards and members by region and type: PHH, AAY, NPHH (H) and Non PHH. To check whether your name is on a card, request the dealer to read the member list from the ePoS device, or look at the approved certificate PDF. Payment status for the state DBT benefit
Puducherry pays part of its food benefit as direct benefit transfer to the bank account of the card holder. The portal's helpdesk section has a DBT page where you pick the district (Pondicherry, Karaikal, Mahe or Yanam) and enter the ration card number. If a payment was rejected, the page shows the reason, a remedial action and who is responsible for fixing it. Most failures come from a bank account not seeded with Aadhaar.
eKYC and Aadhaar seeding in Puducherry
Aadhaar eKYC for each member is done at the fair price shop on the ePoS device, and the portal's e-Service list includes Seeding of Aadhaar for members not yet linked. Offline route while online services are paused
- Collect the Aadhaar cards of all members, the existing card or its number, and proof for the change you want.
- Visit the civil supplies office that serves your region (Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe or Yanam).
- Ask for the form for your service and an acknowledgement slip with a number.
- Track it later on the portal's status page, or call the toll free number 1800-599-7070 shown on the portal.
