- Register as a new public userChoose the new user or sign up option. Fill your name, mobile number and a password, then type the OTP that arrives on it.
- Log in and link your cardSign in with the user ID and password. Enter the 12 digit RC number printed on your card and confirm the head of family details shown.
- Open Download Ration CardFrom your dashboard pick the option usually labelled Download Ration Card or e Ration Card. The portal builds a PDF with a digital signature.

For a ration card download Maharashtra families use the Public Login on the Mahafood Ration Card Management System (RCMS), where a registered user links the 12 digit RC number and saves a digitally signed e ration card PDF. It costs nothing, runs fine on a mobile, and only the first registration takes a little patience.
Maharashtra is moving away from printed booklets, so the signed PDF is now the card most shop dealers and offices accept. Before your ration card download Maharashtra checklist
Three things decide whether the job takes ten minutes or two days. First, the 12 digit RC number. You will find it on the old booklet near the family photo and on shop receipts. Older cards sometimes show a shorter number; the RCMS number is the 12 digit one, and the shop dealer can read it from the ePoS machine if yours is unclear.
Second, a working mobile number that you can receive an OTP on. Third, the Aadhaar number of the card holder, because the portal matches the card holder before it releases the PDF. If any member's Aadhaar is not seeded yet, finish that first using our Maharashtra Aadhaar link and eKYC guide.
Mahafood ration card download through RCMS Public Login
The RCMS Public Login is a citizen account, separate from the logins used by shop dealers and tahsil staff. After the RC is tied to your login, every later visit is just a sign in and one click. Menu names on RCMS change from time to time; if you do not see Download Ration Card, look for words such as e Ration Card, Digital Ration Card or My Ration Card on the dashboard.
The file opens in any PDF reader. If the screen stays blank after you tap download, check the Downloads folder anyway, because many phones save the file quietly without opening it.

A question mark on the signature in some PDF readers only means the reader cannot check it offline. The card is still valid.

New ration card apply online Maharashtra and other changes
RCMS also takes applications for a new card, adding or removing members, a change of address and a duplicate card. You fill the form online, upload documents and then submit the printed acknowledgement with originals at your tahsil supply office. For Mumbai and Thane the work goes to the rationing office under the Controller of Rationing instead of the tahsil.
Approval is a decision of the supply office. The portal only records it, so keep the application number and follow up at the counter if nothing moves.
Card colours and categories in Maharashtra
Many families still hold the older coloured booklets: yellow for poorer households, saffron for the middle band and white for families above the income limit. Under the National Food Security Act the cards that get subsidised grain are Antyodaya Anna Yojana and priority household cards. Offline help and safety
If you cannot manage the portal, a common service centre or an Aaple Sarkar centre operator can do the registration with you. The operator may charge a modest fee for the visit, but the RCMS download itself is free.
Smart, PVC and duplicate cards
The signed PDF from RCMS is the digital card. Some people want a plastic copy for the wallet; such cards are printed privately, as our PVC ration card page explains. If your booklet is lost or torn, you can apply for a duplicate on RCMS, but for most purposes the downloaded PDF already replaces it.

Is the e ration card PDF valid at the ration shop?
Yes. The digitally signed e ration card is the official record from RCMS. At the shop the dealer will in any case check you through Aadhaar on the ePoS machine.

RCMS needs the RC number to link the card to your login. Aadhaar is used to match the family. Without the RC number, the shop dealer or the tahsil office can tell you.
