Why the white ration card Telangana name stuck
Before the Food Security Card system, the united state gave poor families white paper cards and better off families pink cards. When Telangana moved to FSCs, the colour name stayed in everyday speech. Today a white card simply means a Food Security Card, whether it falls under the national food law or the state's own food security scheme.

Using the card as proof for schemes
Many state schemes treat the white card as proof that a family is poor. Health cover, housing support, student scholarships and wedding help schemes commonly ask for the FSC number. Some only need the number typed into their own system, which then checks the Civil Supplies records directly.

Keeping the white card active
- Lift your ration every month if you can. Cards unused for many months can be flagged.
- Finish eKYC at the ration shop for every member when the department calls for it.
- Report deaths and marriages so the record stays true.
- Collect the new smart ration card when your shop announces it.
An inactive card can make a scheme application fail even when the family is eligible.

The most common confusion is between the card itself and a printout. A scheme office may want the original FSC or smart card plus a photocopy. No. The smart card is a new form of the same Food Security Card with the same number.
Can a family with a government employee get a white card?
