Quick steps
- Open ERCMS registrationGo to jsfss.jharkhand.gov.in and tap Register to apply for Rationcard. Aahar also links it under ऑनलाइन सेवा, ऑनलाइन आवेदन.
- Complete the मुखिया sectionOnly an adult woman, 18 or older, can be named as मुखिया. Enter name as in Aadhaar in English and Hindi, father or husband name, gender, category and date of birth.
- Verify mobile and AadhaarTap Generate OTP beside the mobile number, enter it and verify. Do the same for the Aadhaar number.
- Choose card type and addressPick Green or White. Select district, block or nagar palika, panchayat and village or ward.
- Upload two imagesUpload the Aadhaar card and a photo of the house. Each must be JPG or PNG and not more than 200 KB.
- Accept the declaration and registerRead the घोषणा एवं सहमति points about income, land and assets. Tick only if true, then register.
- Log in and complete the applicationUse Already Registered to sign in, add the other members, review the entries, then submit and note down the acknowledgement number.

For a Jharkhand ration card apply request, open the ERCMS site of the food department, choose Register to apply for Rationcard, and fill the head of family form with mobile and Aadhaar OTP, the card type, your address and two photo uploads. After registering you log in as Already Registered to finish and submit, and you get an acknowledgement number.
The form is the same for the green card and the white card. If you are not comfortable with the site, a Pragya Kendra or common service centre can fill it for you. Who can get a card in Jharkhand
The department's eligibility note, राशनकार्ड मानक on Aahar, lists groups to be included first. These include people above 60, widows and abandoned women, persons with 40 percent or more disability, members of primitive tribal groups, people with serious illness, and the destitute and homeless. In towns it adds rag pickers, sweepers, construction and daily wage workers, rickshaw pullers, street vendors and similar trades.
It also lists exclusions. A family is normally left out if anyone in it is a government employee, pays income or professional tax, owns more than five acres of irrigated land or ten acres in all, owns a four wheeler, runs a registered enterprise, owns a fridge, air conditioner or washing machine, or lives in a pucca house of three or more rooms.

Green or white: which card type to pick
The online form currently offers only two choices. Green is the state's own JSFSS card, meant for families who meet the eligibility rules but could not be fitted into the fixed NFSA numbers. The white card is a separate state card for families outside NFSA. NFSA cards, PHH and AAY, are not picked by you on this form.

Uploads that pass the first time
- Take the photo in daylight, on a plain surface, with all four corners of the Aadhaar card visible.
- For the house image, stand back so the door and walls are in the frame.
- If the file is over 200 KB, use the photo editor on your phone to reduce size or crop.
- Only JPG or PNG are accepted. A PDF will be refused.
Ration card acknowledgement number check in Jharkhand
The acknowledgement number is your file number. Use it on either official tracker:
- Check Application Status on ERCMS, which needs only the acknowledgement or card number.
- The आवेदन स्थिति page reached from Aahar's online services menu, at pds.jharkhand.gov.in. Type the acknowledgement, the phone number you applied with, select नया राशनकार्ड के लिए आवेदन as the activity and fill the captcha.

Applying through a Pragya Kendra
Pragya Kendras and common service centres use the same ERCMS form. Carry Aadhaar of every member, the mobile phone for OTPs, and details of land and assets so the operator can fill the declaration correctly. A service charge is common at these centres. Ask for a printout with the acknowledgement number before you leave.

Can a man be the head of family on a Jharkhand card?
The ERCMS form asks for a woman of at least 18 as head of family. Where no adult woman lives in the household, ask the block supply office how to proceed.

Wait a day after submitting, then try again with the exact number. If it still shows nothing, call 1800 345 6598 or visit the block supply office.
