To make a new ration card apply online AP families visit their local village or ward secretariat, where the digital assistant files a New Rice Card request on the AP Seva system and hands you a service request number. Intake is ongoing rather than limited to a short window, so you can apply when your family needs a card.
The same counter also takes requests to add or remove a member, split a card, shift the address or correct a wrongly linked Aadhaar. After verification and approval, your family gets a rice card number that you can look up on the AePDS site. For the full list of AP card help, visit our AP ration card download hub.

New ration card apply online AP: who should apply
Rice cards are for families within the income, land and property limits set by the state. A young couple living separately from parents, a family that moved in from another state, and a family that never had a card are the usual applicants. The secretariat staff check eligibility using the household data the state already holds, so be honest about income and assets.
If you are already on a parent's rice card, ask for a card split instead of a fresh application. This avoids your name sitting on two cards, which leads to rejection.
Rice card services at the secretariat
| Service | Use it when |
|---|---|
| New Rice Card | Your family has no rice card |
| Member Addition | A baby is born or a bride joins the family |
| Member Deletion | A member died or moved to another card |
| Splitting of Rice Card | A married son's family wants its own card |
| Change of Address | You shifted within the state |
| Correction of wrong Aadhaar seeding | A member's Aadhaar is linked wrongly |
Service names on the live system may vary a little.
Documents to keep ready
- Aadhaar card of every member, with a mobile number linked for the head of family.
- Proof of current address in the secretariat's area.
- Income details or certificate if the staff ask for it.
- Marriage certificate for a bride being added, birth certificate for a child.
- The old card or deletion proof if a member is moving from another card.
Applying on AP Seva yourself
AP Seva replaced the older village and ward secretariat portal. It usually offers a citizen login with Aadhaar and OTP, and lets you search a service request status. Whether you can file a new rice card yourself from that login can change over time, so most families still apply through the secretariat counter, which also handles field checks. MeeSeva centres in the state offer some civil supplies services as well.
AP ration card application status and approval
After you apply, the request moves through verification by secretariat staff and approval by the Civil Supplies side. Use the service request number on AP Seva to see where it stands. Typical stages are submitted, under verification, approved and rejected, though the exact words may differ.
Once approved, the new card can be opened through RC Details on the AePDS site. The AP status guide shows how to read it. Members should then finish eKYC at the ration shop.
Things that slow down a rice card request
| Hold up | Reason | Remedy |
|---|---|---|
| Rejected as ineligible | Household data shows income, land or vehicle above limits | Ask the secretariat for the reason and correct wrong data |
| Member already on another card | Not deleted from the old card | Apply for deletion or split first |
| OTP not received | Mobile not linked to Aadhaar | Get the number linked at an Aadhaar enrolment centre |
| Pending for long | Verification queue | Follow up at the secretariat with the request number |
